About
‘Made by Artisans’ was conceived after being inspired by some very talented and creative friends who sold their work via online marketplaces. While the opportunity to showcase and sell their goods online was available the lack of quality arts and crafts fairs in the immediate area was apparent.
The aim of Made by Artisans is to introduce the public to the wealth of talent locally. Helping to support small businesses, independent one-man-bands and promote hand-made and unique products.
The concept
“Made by Artisans.” emphasis is on home-made, unique nature of items and products made by local artists. In a word, Artisans.
What makes us unique is that the participants are hand-picked to ensure that their work meets with the high standards expected and that many different disciplines are represented at the event. The products must be of a home-made nature, they cannot be of a mass produced or brought in variety.
This would be high-calibre event and would be marketed and promoted through traditional media and online.
It would be a one-day event, held on a weekend day to encourage as many visitors as possible. The first ever fair will be held in November 2009 to take advantage of the pre-Christmas gift buying period.
About the Founder Tia Lush
Background
I am a graphic and web designer with over 8+ years in the media and advertising industry. I come from a fine art background, so have always been drawn towards the creative side of business. I have recently been introduced to the world of crafting and more specifically online sites like Folksy. Now I am hooked and somewhat in awe of the creative talent that lurks around us!
Made by Artisans is managed and owned by Who Ate My Crayons Limited – design, not rocket science.
